Sometime very soon, Songs of Love Foundation will deliver its 50,000th personalized song.

We don’t know exactly which child will receive it, or which senior will hear their name sung back to them for the very first time. We don’t know what genre it will be, or what language, or what decade it will draw from. But we know this: it will be made entirely for one person. It will include their name, their favorite things, the people they love, the details that make them uniquely, irreplaceably themselves. And it will be completely free.

Just like all 49,999 songs that came before it.

Thirty Years of Songs — and a Milestone Worth Celebrating

Songs of Love Foundation was founded in 1995 with a simple but powerful belief: that every child facing serious illness deserves to hear their story told in music. In the thirty years since — including a milestone 30th anniversary we celebrated recently — that belief has never wavered. What has changed is the scale.

What began as a small nonprofit creating a handful of songs a year has grown into a national organization working with more than 500 hospitals and care facilities across the United States. Our network of dedicated song creators has delivered personalized songs to children, teens, and seniors in all 50 states — in virtually every musical genre, style, and language imaginable.

And now, 50,000 songs are almost within reach.

What 50,000 Songs Actually Means

It’s easy to read a number like 50,000 and let it wash over you. So let’s make it real for a moment.

50,000 songs means 50,000 children who heard their own name in a melody written just for them. It means 50,000 families who received something beautiful during one of the hardest chapters of their lives. It means 50,000 moments — in hospital rooms, memory care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and living rooms — where music did what nothing else could.

It means a little girl with leukemia who now has a song that belongs only to her. A teenager with a rare diagnosis who got to hear his passions and personality celebrated in music. A 93-year-old woman with dementia who, upon hearing a song crafted from the sounds of her generation, became present in a way her family hadn’t seen in months.

Each of those 50,000 songs cost approximately $150 to create and deliver. Every single one was provided to the family at no cost whatsoever. That has always been, and will always be, the Songs of Love promise.

How We Got Here — and Where We’re Going

Reaching 50,000 songs didn’t happen by accident. It happened because of the extraordinary network of song creators who have given their time and talent to this mission over three decades. It happened because of the hospitals, hospices, social workers, and child life specialists who believed in the power of a personalized song. And it happened because of donors — people just like you — who made it possible to keep every song free.

Now, as we approach this landmark number, we’re more energized than ever about what’s ahead. Through our partnership with Suno — the world’s leading AI music platform — Songs of Love can now deliver personalized songs in any style, any language, and from any musical era. This is especially transformative for our Memory Initiative, which brings personalized songs to seniors living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, recreating the sounds of past decades that spark joy, memory, and recognition.

The next 50,000 songs are not a distant dream. They are well within reach.

Songs That Last a Lifetime

One of the things that makes Songs of Love unique is that the songs don’t disappear. Families keep them. They play them on birthdays, during difficult treatments, on anniversaries. They play them when words aren’t enough. They play them for years — sometimes for the rest of their lives.

For families who have lost a child, the song often becomes one of the most treasured things they own. A recording of who their child was, set to music, made with love, in the middle of the hardest time imaginable.

That is what 50,000 songs represents. Not just a number — but 50,000 lasting gifts.
