Your Vehicle Funds Original Songs of Love
The Songs of Love Foundation is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has been crafting free, personalized, original songs for children, teens, and seniors facing serious medical, cognitive, physical, intellectual, or emotional challenges since 1996. To date, we have delivered more than 50,000 Songs of Love to families across the country — at no cost to them, ever.
Each song is a handmade, one-of-a-kind musical gift created by our team of song creators, woven with details from the recipient’s life — their name, their favorite things, the people they love, the moments that make them light up. At approximately $150 per song, the proceeds from a single donated vehicle can fund many original Songs of Love for people who need them most.
Vehicle donations are one of the most powerful ways we keep that music flowing — working with more than 500 hospitals and care partners nationwide.
How the Car Donation Process Works
Donating your vehicle to Songs of Love is designed to be fast and completely hassle-free:
- Step 1 — Fill out the form: Submit your vehicle information through our donation partner’s secure form. It takes about 3 minutes. You’ll need the vehicle’s year, make, model, and a general sense of its condition.
- Step 2 — Free pickup is arranged: A licensed tow operator in your area will contact you within one business day to schedule free pickup at your home, workplace, or wherever the vehicle is parked — usually within 24 to 72 hours.
- Step 3 — You receive your tax receipt: At pickup you’ll receive an initial receipt. After the vehicle is sold, you’ll receive your final IRS Form 1098-C, usually within 30 days, so you can claim the maximum allowable tax deduction.

What Vehicles Can Be Donated?
Running or not, damaged or pristine, old or nearly new — almost every type of vehicle qualifies. Songs of Love accepts:

Is My Car Donation Tax-Deductible?
Yes. Songs of Love Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (Tax ID: 11-3314191), and your vehicle donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Here’s how the deduction works:
- Vehicle sells for $500 or less: You can deduct the fair market value up to $500, using your standard pickup receipt.
- Vehicle sells for $501–$5,000: You can deduct the actual sale price at auction. You’ll receive IRS Form 1098-C within 30 days of the sale.
- Vehicle sells for over $5,000: You can deduct the actual sale price. You’ll receive IRS Form 1098-C plus need to file Form 8283 Section B with your taxes.
